It's a crosswalk you friggin' idiot!

I really, really wish cops would enforce jaywalking. Having said that, theyll decide to do so when I decide to cross a very empty, non-busy street.
Seriously though. I had to slam the breaks in order to avoid hitting some woman who decided to stroll across a busy section of Tryon. Even if she were running across, motorist would still have to had hit the breaks. Two or three of us blasted horns. She looks at us like 'how dare we' and flips us off and slows her pace til she gets across.

Its even worse on Central Blvd. In just as heavy traffic, there are people constantly crossing back and forth. Most of them are mothers pushing a stroller one-handed while the other hand pulls a 5 year old behind them.

For a couple blocks, theres a median between the two lanes of traffic. The median has a decent landscape. It also has a spot for pedestrians to wait out the other lane of traffic. This is all well and good. Less chances of them getting hit. Nevermind the crosswalks less than a block away in either direction.

Theres a reason Charlotte has a high rate of people getting hit.

Bit and Pieces

Its been to long. I keep waiting for something nice and noteworthy to write about, but its not going to happen. Atleast, not while Im at my computer. Theres been plenty of stuff elsewhere, but not when I can write it down. Soon, its long gone.

Since the start of the WGA Strike, Ive sort of wondered if they have similar issues. Obviously, since there are issues to be settled, they arent writing.

If I were a member of the WGA and currently picketing, THIS is when my muse would bombard me with all kinds of awesome idea's for TV episodes and movies. I wonder if any of them have similar issues.

Tonights league at the bowling alley was interesting. A mother/daughter pair, who dont bowl on the same team ended up against each other tonight (no...it wasnt Mom and I). About halfway through the second game, the mother (who Im calling JoAnna) is doing fairly well and her daughter (Mary) isnt. Mary decides to order a nice, big Long Island iced tea. When JoAnna reacts (erm, our Long Islands are kinda strongish), Mary states "If your going to beat me, it wont be while Im sober."
I have no idea how game 2 ended up.
I do know that in game 3, JoAnna wasnt doing all that hot, and Mary started out with a Four Bagger. Apparently bowling is one of the few TRUE drinking sports.

On other notes, nothing much has changed. Im still pulling double duty as League records and lane server at the bowling alley and still hunting for a full time jobs. Ill be damn surprised if I get Thanksgiving off. Dummy over here forgot to stick the request form in.
A friend on facebook recently posted some awesome fall mountain pics, so now Im more than a little homesick to boot. Depression is such a bitch.

On a brighter note, I got me a new bike. If anyone around Charlotte wants to ride, let me know. I havent ridden in years and need to get back into it.
