Just some stuff

Theres an amusing DUI commercial making the rounds. Three different guys in their vehicles driving along, the cars filled with whatever the guys had been drinking earlier. First guys had beer, second rich guy munches on an olive from his martini drenched sports car, and the third is red...something or other.
I found the three different personalities of these 'gentlemen' amusing, and wonder how intentional is was. Mr. Hillbilly beer dude just sits there. He's not sure whats going on, and he'll probably wake up in a cell wondering WTF just happened. Rich Martini Man has this 'how dare you pull me' expression on his face, just fuming. The third guy almost makes you feel sorry for him. Almost. He knows he was a bad boy and he got caught.


Spent a really long weekend in the Blowing Rock-Boone area this past week. Was nice. About ten years or so ago we reguraly made yearly trips to a gem mine to get buckets of dirt and sift through them for pretty gems. Didnt do have bad either. Have baggies full of amethyst, rubies, garnets, sapphires, emeralds, and other stuff which names I dont remember. We went back this year, got another decent load. I got some nice chunks of sodalite that I will probably have cut into something.
One thing that took me by surprise was the proximity to the McDowell/Mitchell County line.
Wait. What??
Thats not all that far from camp. The missed opportunities astound me. Not only was this something that I enjoy doing (even if the baggies of rocks will just end up piled somewhere), its something I find very relaxing.
Oh well. Atleast now I know where it is. 12 year olds in the back seat tend not to pay attention to these kinds of things.
